There is supposedly a reset hole on some ASUS notebooks and when I emailed ASUS support about where it is on the F8Va they replied.
generally the location is in the lower right hand or lower left hand corner.
Working as expected:Yes I did try that. The ASUS Service Center e-mailed me with the same suggestion, but no luck. I've tried removing the battery and using just the AC cord, I've tried taking out the battery and using the reset switch on bottom, but nothing. There is no sign of life from it at all.Originally Posted by trooper_gs View Post
maybe a stupid suggesiton but did you try the reset button, every asus laptop has one. try pressing it for 20 seconds with a small pin
and finally:Update for anyone else with this problem. I finally got through to Asus support and they actually solved my problem rather quickly. He had me remove the AC plug and battery and then hold down the reset button on the bottom of the laptop for 30 seconds. The reset button is a very, very small hole below the lamp warning sticker on the bottom of the laptop. You'll need a paper clip to access it. After holding it down for 30 seconds he had me replace the battery and then boot up the system. Once back into windows, a new device was detected and the driver was installed and then the system rebooted. Once I was back into windows the missing hard drive was back, and all of the data on it was still there. Hope this helps.
I've just got a reply from Asus TS.
I can't do cuz i've already sent it back to reseller.
So may be you guys may try:
Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service.
Would you please reset your BIOS for a try?
Shutdown the notebook
Start up the computer and hold F2 to enter bios
go to the exit tab and restore factory defaults.
press F10 to save and exit.
----------------
1. turn over your notebook to the back where the serial numbers are located
2. find a small paperclip "anything small enough to hold down the pin reset button located on the back of the notebook"
3. find the hole and push down for 30 seconds
* make sure the power cord is unplugged and that the notebook battery is not in the notebook * hold down for 30 secs the small hole in the back looks like a bow-tie circle in the middle with two triangles on the sides.
